what’s that ringing in my ears?

I just finished packing. Ahhhhh. cold relief, like the barrel of a gun. except not like a barrel of a gun, because that might be threatening. cold relief, like the brass toilet seat of a michigan outhouse in winter is cold.

I have these moments when the world around me stands still and I break into singing…

Mia heeee, mia whooo, mia hoooo, mia ha ha…

life is like that sometimes, don’t you think?

Confectioner’s Magic

I must confess I did not make this.

My grandmother did.

But she taught me how, and oh does it taste good! Under that frothy white roof you’ll find this:

Frothy chocolate goodness, if you couldn’t tell.

I’ve thought about changing the name of my blog to “Something Cooking” or some dumb name like that…but then you have to deal with all the hoopla of commercialism, as we learned from Charlie Brown. No, better to keep it in the shadows and be fat and happy.

I really don’t know what that means. I want to make a movie.

PS- Wow, that reminded me of our stream-of-consciousness session we had way back here, almost a year ago now! (Ok, I give up…Hannah will have to help me find that one…)

A trip to Nashville

I left my camera at home, so let me paint my day for you.

It began early. Not exceptionally early, but early nonetheless. We reached Nashville by 11:00. “And what, pray, might bring you to Nashville?” you ask. Not Vanderbilt, mind, nor Country singing. Mini Cooper brought me here, and what a beautiful thing indeed.

We met our host, Chris, and went through introductions. The basics. Why the Mini is perfect for me. It was true confirmation. We went through color and interior choices, differences in the Cooper and Cooper S. Finally, when we had covered these and more, we went to the lot.

We first took a black Mini 5 speed. Sunroof. Luxury. All the comforts you can pack into a thing of beauty and then some. I gladly shared the wheel with my dad. What a ride!

And then it was time for the Cooper S. I picked a silver/grey and choose a new route to travel. Down a hill and then the straightaway. Not bad…then I turned and gunned it back down the line. Fast doesn’t begin to describe anything. 0 to 70 in seconds. And I was barely in third.

Wow.

I wish you could have been there. I don’t think there will be Mini Coopers in heaven, and I’m fine with that. But they sure are nice to get around in down here!
